 → Course Description
The goal of this course is to broaden the fundamental understanding of Korean architecture from the prehistoric vestiges to contemporary urbanism. This course, however, put more emphasis on the pre-modern traditional architecture of Korea. Therefore the lectures are composed with several topic-oriented groups like as religious architecture, residential architecture, urbanism and governmental architecture in pre-modern Korea on the basis of understanding of traditional wooden structure.  This course also covers  the modernization process of architecture and urbanism after open-port of Korea in 1876.  This course will provide students with an understanding of the progress of architecture in the historical perspective.
