In this course, a definition and characteristics of the smart materials are introduced and their quantitative modeling method is developed. As a sort of the smart materials, piezoelectrics, electrostrictive, magnetostrictive, and SMA are considered, and the structural performance of the smart materials is analyzed in view of dynamics.
