This course is intended for third year undergraduate students with an interest in design of ships or offshore structures.
The course covers four topics such as Optimum Ship Design, Ship Hullform Representation, Ship Structural Analysis and Simulation of shipbuilding welding robot and visualization and animation of the robot using OpenGL library.
The course is composed of four parts:
Part 1 : Optimum Ship Design
- Linear Programming,
- Nonlinear Programming
- Optimum ship conceptual design using Nonlinear Programming
Part 2 : Ship hullform representation
- Bezier curve/B-spline curve
- B-Spline curve/surface
- Generation of ship hullform surface using B-Spline surfaces
Part 3: Ship structure grillage analysis
- Spring & Truss Structure
- Beam & Frame Structure
- Grillage Analysis
- Ship cargo hold structure analysis using grillage method
Part 4 : Simulation of shipbuilding welding robot and visualization and animation of the robot using OpenGL library
- 3D Shape transformation
- Robot forward/inverse kinematics
