This course focuses mainly on physical mechanism, theoretical analyses, and applications of  turbulence and transport in magnetically confined fusion plasmas including tokamaks. Major topics are drift-type microinstabilities including ion temperature gradient modes, trapped electron modes, and electron temperature gradient modes; and radial transport of heat, momentum and particles caused by those instabilities. Properties of gyrokinetic equations and nonlinear fluid systems such as Hasegawa-Mima equations will be covered as well.
