Department title

Industrial Engineering

Industrial Engineering is an academic field that systematically plans and designs complicated industrial, public, and service systems by utilizing technical knowledge and scientific methods. At the same time, it develops and applies various techniques for enhancing the ability to manage, operate, and analyze those systems efficiently and effectively.
Industrial engineers who involve in managing, operating, and implementing modern complex systems that usually include human, technology, information, materials, and machines, and other economic resources are expected to contribute to the growth and sustainability of national economy with the abilities of systematic decision making, scientific problem solving and quantitative management.

The following specific goals are established to provide high quality education that satisfies the academic characteristics mentioned above.

a) Nurture the ability to design, plan, and improve modern socio-technical industrial systems that consist of people, material, technology, and information.
b) Nurture the ability to solve problems through the systems approaches that draw professional knowledge from related disciplines including mathematics, computer science, engineering, and social science.
c) Nurture the ability of modeling and analyzing the complex systems that exist in real world through establishing qualitative and quantitative evaluation measures
d) Provide the necessary background and leadership with which the students can set goals of organizations, plan for innovating systems, and communicate with and lead members of organizations who have diverse backgrounds.
e) Educate specialists who will be able to apply their knowledge of major subjects creatively to the real world problems by analyzing technology, information, and environment changes.

The emergence of advanced knowledge industry in the upcoming future driven by the development of new industrial and information technology will increase the need for professional industrial engineers. Therefore, in order to meet this demand, the department, through the effective education programs, currently focuses on developing the students' creativity as well as the ability to think logically while at the same time enhancing their leadership that can ultimately result in system innovation.
